There are times where running a business alone can create a tremendous amount of pressure on oneself, and sometimes we just need to take a step back and review everything including our mindset and attitude. But as I have always been so focused...
Wellness, Diversity in Action and HIV / AIDS Awareness on Croydon Radio Today
My enduring impression of Gill, whom I first met at a business networking event a couple of years ago, is of a constantly on-the-go woman, often to be seen ferrying donated items for the Oasis second hand charity shops in South London. They will collect donated items within a reasonable collection distance, either with her car, or the charity van.
But today, Gill will pause long enough to speak with unbridled excitement about the charity auction of a commissioned one-of-a-kind quilt to raise money at www.jumblebee.co.uk/wandsworthoasisquilt. And you have until June 28 to put your bid in for this unique conversation piece which is 200 by 235 cm and was a 60 hour labour of love and devotion by volunteer, Grahame Rees.
The fabric used for the quilt was all donated by Wall to Wall Curtains and Upholstery, who are based in Battersea Park Road and who have supported Wandsworth Oasis for more than 20 years. Sadly, Miles O'Donovan, the founder of Wall to Wall, died earlier this year, and the quilt is dedicated to Miles' memory.
Gill will also talk about HIV and AIDS statistics in the UK and over-all awareness of the condition, and the forthcoming Vintage Fair at the Half and Half Pub on High Street, Croydon.
Second guest is Tooting based Health and Wellness Coach, Melanie Henry who is running a workshop on Saturday 21st of June at Skylines Village, E14 9TS, between 9.30 am to 5 pm.
Melanie's workshop, run in partnership with DiversityInCare is part of a personal development workshop series and is entitled "Take Charge of Your WellBeing". The workshop is designed to help participants get to the root cause of stress and create individual "maps" to guide them into a more balanced life.
Diversity in Care is a registered charity working with disadvantaged communities throughout the UK. They work with adults, children and families battling a wide range of issues associated with drug and alcohol abuse.
All proceeds for the workshop will be donated to DiversityInCare. The charity was founded in April 2005 by drug treatment specialist, Angela Edmondson, after identifying a huge gap in the social care sector which has been sorely neglected and is now an issue for the UK.
